Alright, folks, gather ’round, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into. So, I’ve always been a bit of a watch guy, and the Rolex Submariner, that’s like the holy grail, right? But the price tag? Oof. No way I could swing that. So, I thought, why not try my hand at making a knockoff? Not to sell or anything, just for kicks, you know?
First things first, I needed to find some good parts. I started digging around online, checking out forums and stuff, trying to find suppliers who sell those replica watch parts. It’s a bit of a shady world, I gotta say, but I managed to find a few that seemed legit. Ordered a bunch of parts – case, movement, dial, hands, the whole shebang. Cost me a pretty penny, but still way cheaper than a real Rolex.
Waiting Game
Then came the waiting. Took weeks for everything to arrive. I was like a kid on Christmas morning when those packages finally showed up. Tore them open, laid all the parts out on my workbench. Looked pretty darn close to the real deal, I gotta admit.
Assembly Time
- The Case: I started with the case, it’s the foundation, right? This one was a solid chunk of stainless steel, felt heavy and well-made. Popped the back off, ready to get to work.
- The Movement: Next up, the movement. This is the heart of the watch, the bit that makes it tick. I went for a decent automatic movement, not the fanciest, but reliable. Carefully placed it inside the case, secured it with some screws.
- The Dial and Hands: Now for the face of the watch. The dial was this deep black, with those classic Submariner markers. Attached the hands, those tiny little things were a pain to work with, I needed tweezers and a magnifying glass!
- The Bezel: The Submariner has that iconic rotating bezel, used for timing dives and stuff. I got a ceramic one, just like the real deal, clicked it into place. Felt satisfying.
- The Bracelet: Finally, the bracelet. Another chunk of stainless steel, with that classic Oyster design. Attached it to the case, adjusted the links to fit my wrist.
The Finished Product
And there it was, my very own High imitation Rolex Black Submariner. Put it on my wrist, it looked… pretty damn good! I mean, you’d have to be a real expert to tell it apart from the original. The weight, the feel, the look, it was all there.
Now, I’m not saying it’s perfect. There are probably some tiny details that are off, and I’m sure the movement isn’t as good as a real Rolex one. But for a fun little project, I was stoked. Wore it around the house for a few days, felt like a million bucks, even though it’s just a high imitation.
I decided I needed to find a watch box, then I can put it in the box.
So, that’s my story. Just a regular guy, building a fake Rolex. Don’t judge me, it was a fun experiment. Maybe I’ll try making another one someday, who knows?
