Man, I’ve been on this project for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I decided to get into making a high imitation of the Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel. You know, the classic style. It’s a beauty, isn’t it? It looks so fancy, I figured, why not try to make one myself?

So, I started by looking everywhere online, reading forums, watching videos, you name it. I needed to understand what makes a Rolex GMT-Master II, especially the Pepsi bezel, so iconic. It’s all about the details, I learned.

Gathering Materials

First off, I had to gather all the materials. This wasn’t easy. I went on a hunt for a good base watch. Something that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg but still had that solid feel. Then there was the bezel. I found out that the original Pepsi bezel is made from anodized aluminum, which gives it that unique look. I managed to find a similar material after a lot of searching. Not perfect, but close enough.

The Hard Part: Assembly

Putting it all together was the real challenge. I watched a ton of videos on how to carefully take apart a watch and put it back together. Tools, I didn’t even know half of these existed! Tweezers, screwdrivers that were so tiny, I could barely see them. I even got a magnifying glass to help me out.

  • First, I took apart the base watch I bought. I was sweating bullets, man. One wrong move and that’s it.
  • Then, the bezel. Oh boy, the bezel. I had to shape the aluminum to fit just right. And the colors, I tried my best to match the classic Pepsi red and blue.
  • Next, getting the GMT hand to work like it should. That took some fiddling, I’m not gonna lie.

The Final Touch

After hours, days, maybe even weeks, I finally had something that resembled a Rolex GMT-Master II. I even tried to check some hidden details under UV light, just like the real ones, thanks to some video I watched about how to spot the fake ones. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. But it was mine. I made it. And I learned a lot along the way.

Would I do it again? Probably not. It was tough, and honestly, I think I’ll just save up for the real deal next time. But hey, it was an experience. And now I’ve got a story to tell, right?
