That Yves Saint Laurent, that YSL, I hear them young girls talkin’ ’bout it all the time. Fancy letters, ain’t they? They say it’s a big deal bag. Envelope bag, they call it. Like you put a letter in it or somethin’. I seen ’em, all shiny and new. Cost more than my old cow, Bessie, I reckon.
They got all sorts now. Big ones, little ones. Some with chains, some with straps. All different colors, too. Black, white, red. Even saw one that was kinda sparkly once. My granddaughter, she’s got one. Says it’s a real YSL Envelope Bag. Paid a pretty penny for it, I bet.
Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout fancy bags. I use my old cloth sack. Does the job just fine. Carries my knitting and my snuff. But these young’uns, they like their fancy things. They say it’s an investment. An investment in lookin’ good, I guess.
They got this store, a flagship store, fancy name for a shop. They say it’s where you get the real deal. No fakes. ‘Cause apparently, there’s folks out there makin’ copies. Tryna fool people. Can you believe that? A fake YSL.
This shop, it’s all bright lights and shiny floors. Probably got those fancy people workin’ there, too. The kind that look at you funny if you ain’t dressed up. I wouldn’t go in there. Not my kind of place. I like the market, where you can haggle for a good price.
But these girls, they save up their money. Work hard, I’ll give ’em that. Just to get one of these YSL bags. They say it makes ’em feel good. Like they’ve accomplished somethin’. I guess that’s important, to feel good about yourself.
I saw in a magazine, they are remaking them, or something. Making new styles of the YSL Envelope. Always changing, these things. Fashion. Never can keep up. It’s like chasing chickens. Always something new to peck at.
- New Styles of Envelope Bag
- Different Colors and Sizes
- Official Flagship Store
- No Fake YSL
They got this one, the Triquilt, they call it. Sounds like a fancy blanket. Probably softer than one, though. And a lot more expensive! My old quilt, patched up a hundred times, still keeps me warm. Don’t need no fancy Triquilt to do that.
They say these bags, they hold their value. Like gold or somethin’. You can sell ’em later, maybe even for more money. Don’t know if I believe that. But then again, I don’t know much ’bout these things. Seems like a lot of fuss for a bag.
Heard some folks say you can get them second-hand. Used, you know. Cheaper that way. But you gotta be careful, they say. Make sure it’s a real one. Don’t want to get tricked. These days, you gotta watch out for everything. Can’t trust nobody.
There’s a place, they call it a consignment store, where they sell these used things. Fancy name for a used goods store. They say they check ’em, make sure they’re real YSL. But still. My old eyes cant see too clear, how am i gonna know?
Up to 80% off, I hear on the radio! 80%! That’s a lot! Still, probably costs an arm and a leg. Those city folks, they got different ideas about money. They throw it around like it’s nothin’.
This YSL Envelope Bag, it’s a mystery to me. But these young girls, they love ’em. And who am I to say what they should or shouldn’t like? If it makes ’em happy, then that’s all that matters, I reckon.
Maybe one day, I’ll get my granddaughter to show me hers again. Maybe I’ll even touch it. See what all the fuss is about. But for now, I’m happy with my old cloth sack. It’s got character, that’s what I always say. And it ain’t cost me a fortune, unlike that fancy Yves Saint Laurent YSL ENVELOPE BAG.
They even have some fancy name for men’s shoes and women’s shoes. And some beauty stuff. That Stanford Shopping Center, 400 of it, whatever that means. Sounds huge. Too big for me. I like the little shops in town. Get all I need there. I guess if you got the money, you can get whatever you want. Just don’t forget where you came from, that’s what I always say.
One of everything, they say. That place with the used bags. Only one. Makes it special, I guess. Like a treasure hunt. I used to love looking for pretty rocks by the creek when I was a little girl. Same idea, maybe. Finding something special, something nobody else has. This YSL thing, it’s more than just a bag, ain’t it? It’s a whole world. A world I don’t really understand, but a world nonetheless.
