Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the big one, for like, ever. It’s such a classic, you know? But the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to make one myself? A big project, but I figured I could handle it.
First, I got some Saffiano leather. Not the easiest thing to find, but I managed. And let me tell you, it is gorgeous. That texture! Then I studied a bunch of pictures of the real deal, trying to get every detail right. I looked at the stitching, the hardware, everything.
Next up, I drafted a pattern. This took a while, a lot of measuring and re-measuring. I wanted it to be perfect, you know, just like the original. I even made a mock-up with some cheap fabric, just to see if it would all work out. I mean, this is a pretty big bag, so I had to get the proportions right.
- Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking! One wrong move, and it would be a disaster. But I took my time, and it went okay.
- Then came the sewing. This part took forever. So many pieces! But slowly, it all started coming together.
- I found some hardware that looked pretty close to the original. The zippers, the little feet, the Prada logo – all of it. Attaching that was also pretty tricky.
Finally, after weeks of work, it was done! My very own “Prada” Galleria. And you know what? It looked pretty darn good! I mean, it’s not exactly the same, but it’s close.
It’s big enough to hold all my stuff. I’m so proud of myself for actually doing it. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And I learned so much during the process. I love to share my experience with all of you.
I saw some people online talking about the real Prada Galleria. Some say it is too expensive, others say it’s just a name. Whatever. I made my own, and I love it.
