So, the other day I was thinkin’ about gettin’ myself a new watch, you know? And I’ve always had my eye on those OMEGA Speedmasters. They just look so darn classy. And this time I wanted to take a closer look at the 38mm version.

So, I did what any regular guy would do – I started lookin’ around. First I browsed the net. There’s this website, eBay, where apparently you can get all sorts of things, including these watches. But there were so many, and I was not sure what was real and what was not. I looked at some websites that compared prices, but they were all over the place. These comparison sites are kind of cool, but it’s a lot to take in. You can save some money, I guess, but it takes time and I am not confident in buying a nice watch from just anywhere.

Then I remembered, there’s this store, a real fancy one, called BEST ISHIDA. It is a legit dealer, so I looked at their online shop. They had some nice ones, all shiny and new. But man, they were expensive! I mean, I know these watches are supposed to be high-end and all, but sheesh.

I heard from some folks that there are places on the internet where you can buy and sell watches. So I poked around some more. Found some forums and stuff. People talkin’ about all kinds of watches, including Speedmasters. Some were used, some were new, some were from who-knows-where. That did not help me much though. Too much information.

Now, I was really startin’ to get into these OMEGA Speedmaster 38mm ones. Apparently, they came out in 2017. They are like a fancy version of the regular Speedmaster. And get this – the older “Reduced” model was stopped in 2009. I guess they don’t make those anymore. It seems like these 38mm ones are for folks who like the Speedmaster’s history but want somethin’ a bit different than the normal Moonwatch. That’s what I read anyway. They say it’s a mix of “timeless style” and “cutting-edge features.” Sounds good, right?

So I thought, “Okay, where do you actually get one of these?” Well, OMEGA has its own website, of course. You can probably buy one there. But I figured I’d check out one of those Specialty Stores in person. You know, get the full experience. You can see them up close, try them on. I thought I’d do that sometime.

  • Checked out eBay: Lots of options, but hard to know what’s real.
  • Looked at price comparison sites: Could save money, but overwhelming.
  • Browsed BEST ISHIDA online: Legit dealer, but pricey!
  • Explored online forums: Lots of info, but not very helpful for buying.
  • Researched the Speedmaster 38mm: Fancy, newish model, discontinued the older one.
  • Decided to visit a Specialty Store: Want to see them in person.

But I tell you what, these watches are somethin’ else. I haven’t decided to buy one just yet, I wanted to share my little adventure in looking for one of these watches. I probably need to save up a bit more, but it was sure fun. The Speedmaster 38mm is definitely on my radar.
