Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this RemakePRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now. It’s like, really popular, and I saw it all over social media. I finally decided to go for it and see if I could make one myself. It’s a pretty big challenge, you know? But I was like, “Why not?”
First, I started by looking around for where to get the materials. I found out that Prada, they have outlets in Milan, Venice, and Rome, so there are lots of options around. And it’s way cheaper to buy Prada in Italy than, say, in the USA. That’s good to know if you’re ever in Europe, right?
Then, I started digging into what kind of leather this bag is made of. It’s called Saffiano leather. Apparently, it’s genuine leather that’s been treated and embossed. It’s not like full-grain leather that gets that worn-in look over time. I found some pretty good leather that looked just like it.
Next, I got to work on figuring out the size and all that. I measured it out to be about 9.5 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 6.5 inches high. I started cutting the leather and all that. I even made two different handles – a short one that’s about 4 inches and a longer one that’s like 22 inches. It was a lot of work, but I kept at it, cutting and measuring and all that.
I also found out that these bags come in a ton of colors. Black, white, pink, even two-toned ones! I went with classic black because, you know, it goes with everything. I found out that the authentic ones go for about $4 or more. Pretty pricey, huh?
Putting it all together was a real challenge. Sewing the leather, attaching the handles, making sure everything was lined up just right. I spent a lot of time on it, let me tell you. But I kept going, sewing and fixing and all that.
Finally, after all that work, it was done! It looked pretty darn close to the real thing, if I do say so myself. It’s a decent size, not too big, not too small. And it feels pretty sturdy, like it could last a while. I mean, these Prada bags are supposed to hold their value, or even become more valuable over time, so that’s a plus.
Why I did this
The reason I did this is because I wanted to see if I could. Also, the real bags are super expensive. And I like making stuff. It was a fun project, even though it was tough. I learned a lot about working with leather and making bags. Plus, now I have a cool bag that looks like a Prada, but it’s handmade. Pretty neat, right?
So, yeah, that’s my story of remaking the Prada Galleria Saffiano bag. It was a wild ride, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Maybe I’ll try another bag next. Who knows?
