Well, guys, today I’m gonna talk about how I remade the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010. I gotta say, this was a tough one, but pretty darn rewarding in the end. After getting all my stuff, I started with the design of the watch case. This was tricky. I wanted it to be just like the original, so I spent hours measuring, sketching, and making sure everything was perfect. I used some basic tools I had at home, nothing fancy, just my trusty calipers, some rulers, and a whole lot of patience.
Then came the dial. Oh boy, the dial. This was a real test of my patience. I wanted that same intricate design, so I used some really fine tools to engrave the patterns. Let me tell you, my eyes were pretty tired after that, but it was worth it. I used some techniques I picked up from watching videos online, and it turned out surprisingly well.
Next up was the movement. This is where things got really technical. Now I am not a professional watch maker or repairer, I am just doing this for fun. I learned some knowledge about how to fix some certain damage by UV light from the internet. It is a kind of specific repair mechanism thing. It helped me a lot.
Assembling the watch was like putting together a very complicated puzzle. I followed some guides I found online, and after a few tries, I finally got it working. I mean, it wasn’t perfect, but it was ticking! That feeling when I saw the hands moving for the first time was just amazing.
Final Touches
The last step was adding the strap and the clasp. I managed to find a decent leather strap that matched the original pretty closely. Putting it all together and seeing the finished product was such a great moment. It wasn’t exactly like the one in the flagship store, but it was pretty damn close, and I made it myself!
