Alright, so I’ve been wanting to remake the YSL June Box bag for a while now. I finally decided to give it a shot. I started by looking everywhere online for some kind of a guide, but honestly, I couldn’t find much. Just a bunch of “shop with me” videos and official store pages. Not helpful.
So, I just dove in headfirst. First things first, I needed to get a good look at the bag itself. I spent hours scrolling through the Saint Laurent official online store, you know, just browsing through their handbags collection. I zoomed in on every picture I could find, trying to get a feel for the materials, the stitching, the hardware… everything.
Then came the hard part – figuring out what materials to use. I mean, the real deal uses calfskin, python, and all that fancy stuff. I wanted to make it as close to the original as possible, but without breaking the bank. After a lot of searching and comparing, I settled on some good quality leather that looked and felt pretty similar to the real thing.
- I sketched out the design, trying to copy the shape and dimensions as accurately as I could. I made a rough pattern based on my sketches.
- Then, I carefully cut the leather pieces according to my pattern. I used a really sharp knife for this to make sure the edges were clean and precise.
- Next up was the stitching. This was probably the most time-consuming part. I wanted the stitching to be as neat and consistent as the original, so I took my time and made sure every stitch was perfect. I hand-stitched the whole thing, just like they do with the real one.
- Finally, I attached the hardware. I found some metal pieces that looked pretty similar to the YSL logo and the chain strap. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to put it all together, and it actually looked pretty good!
It took a while, but the result was pretty rewarding. It’s not an exact replica, of course, but it’s definitely got that YSL June Box vibe. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, especially since I basically figured it out as I went along. I learned a lot about bag-making and working with leather. It was a fun challenge, and now I’ve got a pretty cool bag to show for it!
